Why should I Forgive?
Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. It is releasing a heavy burden that you no longer want to lug around. It is a lightening of spirit, an ultimate act of self-care which leaves the past where it belongs: in the past. Forgiveness leads to peace.

It is not condoning the act if you have been wronged by another. You can forgive someone, and they need not ever know about it.

You can forgive yourself also for what you have done or even for what you wished you would have done.

How do I forgive? Here are a couple of ways.
You can bravely ask another for forgiveness. There is a beautiful Hawaiian prayer called the Ho’oponopono. Do you know it?

What is the Ho'oponopono?

The Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian prayer used for healing, forgiveness, transformation, inner-peace and self-love. It is only four lines long:

I'm am sorry
Please forgive me
I love you
Thank you

Can you imagine the feeling of someone saying the Ho’oponopono to you? Can you imagine the feeling if you said this to another person?

Another way to forgive someone is to write this person a letter (do NOT, I repeat do not give this letter to them.) Write this letter out by hand, using whatever language, rage, anger, frustration…you feel about the situation. Let the emotions come, let them all out. You are releasing it, surrendering it, healing it.

When you have completed this letter, have a brief ceremony of release and say something like, “I release this occurrence now and forever more into the arms of The Divine to transmute and I ask for peace” then burn your letter if you can safely do so or shred it and get it out of your house, do not leave this letter in your home. You will feel a physical and emotional release. Let this go.

When you think about this situation again, lovingly remind yourself you have released it into the arms of the Creator, and you need not carry the burden forward.

Is there forgiveness that needs to occur in order for you to live life better?

Find the good,
Becky and Janette
