LIFELINE
You are not alone.
Definition: a thing on which someone depends
Other: support, anchor, someone you depend on
Opposite: let down, not helpful
We all need a lifeline at this scary time filled with anxiety and uncertainty. We need to be gentle with ourselves and prioritize our health-physical and mental. As we navigate through a difficult season, lost without our everyday distractions, forced to slow down, we need to take the time to be kind, even from a distance.
There is an abundance of love, kindness and peace available when we support, help and assist others. We can take the energy of our dreams that we had planned and channel it into friendly gestures, smiles, waves and acts of kindness.
We are canceling planned celebrations and missing moments that bring us together. We are feeling unsettled. If you don’t feel happy, calm and in control there is a lifeline available. The steps we take to find our way are individual for each of us.
I live by myself but I am not alone. I can reach out to my daughters, friends, social media and other ways too. One of my favorite alone activities includes BOOKS. Books make things more bearable and you don’t feel alone when participating in adventures and maybe even danger while reading in your snug cocoon. Books have the power to connect us and transform our thinking.
This is the time to bring out the best in each of us. It is a time for kindness, for calling a friend, hunkering down with loved ones and finding ways to help those who are in need. It may be as simple as sending a card, smiling at the neighbor across the street, or using sidewalk chalk to leave an uplifting message. Or it could be sending dinner to someone who is out in the world, working everyday, exhausted, trying to protect themselves and their family.
Think about how you can make a difference.
We’re in this together.
If you reach each out,
You are not alone.
I can be the right reminder at the right time
Throwin’ out the lifeline
