HOPE

Believe in the possibility of what could be.

Definition: faith, desire, chance, ardent wish

Other: optimism, belief, dream, endurance

Opposite: doubt, disbelief, skepticism, to give up

My go-to symbol of hope is a daffodil. This cheery harbinger of spring begins arising following the dark and stormy days of winter when the world seems dreary and sunny days seem so very hard to imagine.

We are all going through a historic worldwide shift in life as we know it. During this time of COVID-19, our lives are rapidly changing, and this uncertainty is scary. This season of so much uncertainty can feel like the longest, scariest “winter” we have ever experienced.

We too, can be like the daffodil: a symbol of hope and enduring faith in the midst of trial and hardship. She has gone through a season of seeming dormancy to arise anew in all her splendor and glory. She emerges enrobed in a vibrant display for all the world to see. She is victorious and beautiful: a symbol of strength, resiliency and renewal.

We can choose hope, to believe in the possibility of what could be. We can choose optimism. We can choose to see the experience or hardship as a life-lesson or perhaps even as a gift.

A precious friend is facing a health challenge and she chose the word HOPE as her focus word for 2020. She wants to thrive and is choosing to focus on the hope in each procedure, each test, each day moving forward. Each day, embracing hope.

I’m loving the above quote about Hope:
“If you only carry one thing throughout your entire life, let is be hope. Let it be hope that better things are always ahead. Let it be hope that you can get through even the toughest of times. Let it be hope that you are stronger than any challenge that comes your way. Let it be hope that you are exactly where you are meant to be right now, and that you are on the path to where you are meant to be…because during these times, hope will be the very thing that carries you through.”

How can you cultivate hope in your heart to continue living life better?
